Races2U Mobile Slot Car racing celebrates its first anniversary   by Warren

The once popular hobby of slot car racing all but dissapeared after the introduction of video games, and what was once a common site- commercial slot car tracks – had almost all faded into memories. Although the hobby remained popular in Europe, it is starting to see a comeback here in the US. Part of this is due to an update from the old technology. Newer slot cars have gone digital. This allows cars to be programmed and tied to a controller rather than a lane. This not only allows a racer to change lanes and have computer monitoring of laps and times, but also allows for multiple cars to race in fewer lanes. This creates a much more realistic racing experience. This has really caused a resurgence in the popularity of slot car racing. Races2U is on the forefront of this resurgence, and has added a new twist on an old hobby. Races2U tracks are Mobile. Large and detailed slot car tracks are set up in concession style trailers where they can be brought out to a customer’s site.

Inspired by the fact that Formula 1 auto racing and MotoGP motorcycle racing are coming to Texas, local entrepreneur Warren Peck decided to run the same races, in 1/32 scale. Races2U went from an idea in Fall 2010 to fully operational by the end of October 2010. In less than one year, Races2U was showing a profit and expanding from just one Formula 1 style track and cars to several tracks, racing not only F1′s, but NASCARs, muscle cars, and exotics as well.

Races2U already has grown from one mobile track to three in the Austin, Texas area, and has added an operator in Central Michigan as well. The mobile race tracks have appeared at auto shows, fundraisers, schools, and birthday parties all over Texas and Michigan, and have raised thousands of dollars for charity as well, including the Make-a-wish foundation, Cookies for Kids Cancer, and the Dell Children’s Hospital.

Races2U plans aggresive expansion in Texas and Michigan as well as going into Virginia, Florida, and the Carolinas in 2012. Races2U just recently launched an internet store, and is also planning to launch a brick-and-mortar retail concept set to launch this Fall.
Races2U is looking for licensees and franchisees interested in bringing slot car racing to certain areas of the country.
